To seal leaks at pressures above 25 psi, it is necessary to use a metal mold.
Step 1: PLCS designs these on our CAD system. They are usually custom fabricated from steel in two halves, which are bolted together on the pipe.
Step 2: Pipe is prepared by grit blasting and priming
Step 3: The sealant is mixed and poured into the mold.
Step 4: The mold is capped and then pressurized with bottled nitrogen to above mains pressure. A gauge registers the
sealant pressure. The nitrogen pressure is left on for 24-48 hours and then the mold is removed.
The steel mold belongs to the customer and can be reused many times. With a little care it will last many years. The whole operation is very simple and easy to learn by your own employees.
Field technicians are available for on-site instruction and supervision.
