Shutting down outdated gas service tees when emergencies happen can be challenging without the right tool.
PLCS’s special projects division offers a solution by consolidating multiple legacy tapping tools with different hex sizes and tapping depths into a single wrench system to quickly shut down troublesome tees.
52-UGIHX Legacy PE Tap Tool Kit
BENEFITS
-
The 3-shaft design offers 6 different tool ends to meet the manufacturer’s tapping requirements.
-
No socket ratchet or extra tools needed. Engravings, stops, and grooves to quickly identify the correct end for legacy tees.
-
Easy to standardize so every crew has one. Made from stainless steel, supplied with a compact storage tube to fit anywhere on the truck.
The first installation of the PE gas distribution pipe, manufactured by Phillips Petroleum, took place in Caney, Kansas, in 1959.
Since then, multicolored versions of the early PE Tees have been made from Dupont Aldyl-A, in a pinkish tan, while Phillips, Driscopipe, Plexco, and Uponor have been orange, yellow, or black. Creating confusion for workers about how far to turn the tap down to stop the branch in an emergency when the manufacturer’s tool is no longer available.
Do away with carrying all these tools, which can be lost, misplaced, or not available from the manufacturer.
Use on all these outdated tees.
